Founder/director of Rise Out, a nonprofit for teens who have elected to leave high school and craft their own education. I also teach Sociology & Global Studies at Lesley University in Massachusetts.

Ph.D. in International & Comparative Education; dissertation on Muslim students in the U.S. & Germany.

Recently returned to my tiny hometown in Iowa after 20+ years in Boston. Continuing to teach virtually.
