Poetry can be many things, but what it never is is being a mouth piece for others.

It is expression, performance, entertainment, bonding, teaching and the play of language.

We need to play with our words as they are tools. Playing strengthens ourselves against those who dissolve the tools by deluding meaning.

The creation of poetry is also the focus on the self. and for many women that is defying the oppressive forces of society that demands women serve others and sacrifice themselves.
